About Foothold

Experience that connects research with reality.

For twenty years, I worked in international industry, where market decisions had to be well-evidenced, practical and workable for the people responsible for delivering them. Foothold brings that perspective to Ukraine market entry: rigorous research, careful judgement and a clear route forward.

Svetlana Moks, founder

For two decades, my work has been rooted in mining and building materials across Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. I spent seventeen years with Nordkalk, most recently as managing director of its Estonian company and as a member of its management board.

Between 2008 and 2015, I was responsible for administration and support functions across six countries, including Ukraine. This gave me direct experience in the market and an understanding of the practical, organisational and human considerations behind cross-border decisions.

I began my career close to operations at Estonia’s oil-shale producer, working with mine operations and technical management. Throughout my career, I have worked where research, strategy and operational reality need to come together.

Foothold grew from a detailed Ukraine market-entry study created for a Nordic manufacturer in 2026. That work became the foundation for a practical research and advisory service for companies exploring the Ukrainian market.
